Winter WonderFest is Coming!
It's that time again.
CASHE is taking a field trip
with the Association of Chicago Homeschool/Unschool Teens and the Chicago Northside Unschoolers Group to Navy Pier's
Winter WonderFest. Winter WonderFest is a spectacle of lights,
rides, ice skating, and winter fun. It's perfect for all ages. Here is

We will be going Monday, December 13. As always, if you
purchase with a group rate ice skating will not be available to you
until after 2:00. Please check the website carefully to make sure you
approve of the rates.
The event hours for that day are 10-8:00. Parking is not included.
Indiana Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker
We're seeing The Nutcracker at the Star Plaza Theater Thursday, December 2nd at 10:00 am.

November 17 at 6:00 at5th Quarter Press Room and Eatery located at 18105 Dixie Hwy Homewood IL 60430 It is just south of Ridge on Dixie on east side of the street. Tucked in by the martial arts studio, comic book shop, chinese restaurant etc... I -80 west to Halsted south to Ridge and take a right to Dixie and take a left. There is a free municipal parking lot directly across from the bar. Behind the shops. Street parking is scarce. (Dixie Hwy is blocked off and under construction from 183rd to Vollmer- but that is further south but if you get turned around be forewarned)

Purdue North Central Sculpture Walk Scheduled
We're headed to campus for a free guided tour 0f 30 sculptures and other art work on October 14 at 1:15. You have until Wednesday September 29 to reserve your spot.
Meet us at the flag pole in front of Schwarz Hall. It faces 421.
Park avoiding permit parking or you WILL be ticketed!
Museum of Contemporary Art Field Trip Scheduled
We will be given free admission for a self-conducted tour at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7th. Meet at 11:50 outside the "Beatrice Mayer Education Entrance" at the corner of Pearson ST and Mies Van Der Rohe Way.
They will have an Alexander Calder exhibit (sculptures and mobiles plus work of seven other similar artists), a Lost and Found exhibit (found art), an exhibit by Tim Louis Graham which includes reference to East German defection from the Soviet Union, and an exhibit by painter Luc Tuymans whose work focuses on the lingering effects of WWII on the lives of Europeans, post-colonialism in Congo, and 9/11.
Please let Jane know if you will be attending (and how many). If time and weather permits, we could grab a snack/beverage afterwards and sit by Calder's "Flamingo" in the federal plaza.
Next Up: El Día de los Muertos
Don't forget we're headed to Navy Pier's Crystal Gardens November 2nd at 10:30 for a celebration of Day of the Dead. We'll witness local artists Eric Garcia, Esperanza Gama, and Pablo Serrano as they install and decorate ofrendas (altars), and learn more about this time-honored Mexican tradition of honoring the departed. In addition, we are invited to leave a note on the community ofrenda and participate in hands-on craft activities. The tour and activity slot will be a total of 45 minutes that will consist of a 20 min. tour followed by mini-workshops where students will have an opportunity to participate at each of the 4 ofrendas. The tour is free, however there is a fee of $5 per student participating in these workshops.

Join us Monday September 20 at 11:00 at Springhope Farms in Galien, Michigan.
